On a very sticky surface, Calne took the game to their hosts immediately going on the attack. As Corsham pushed Calne back, the Lilywhites won the ball again and in the 9th minute, Callum Bell ran the channel, cross into the box but the shot was pushed away, only for a cheeky back heel from Stuart Winfdsor to give the Lilywhites the lead.
The hosts came back at Calne and forced a 13th minute corner but the outcome was safe for the Lilywhites. Calne came back at Corsham with a 19th minute cross again from the right but Neurin Jones powerful header was palmed over the cross-bar. The following corner was safely gathered.
As the ball was launched out, Calne again won possession and a charging Stuart Windsor shot over from 10 yards.
Back came Corsham forcing Steve Allison to make the save of the match in the 22nd minute when he palmed the ball around his left upright. The following corner was no threat on the Calne goal.
On the half hour, Calnes fullback, Callum Bell thought head get in on the action when he overlapped on the left, crossed into the area but Matty Jenkins shot was palmed away by the host’s keeper, Luke Roberts.
Calne doubled their lead in the 37th minute when again Stuart Windsor scored his and the Lilywhites 2nd. We only waited a further 4 minutes for another Calne cross from the right and Windsor was on hand again to score his and Calne’s hat-trick but the hosts pulled a goal back as half time approached.
After the break, Corsham came out with a little more determination pushing the visitors back. That lasted a few minutes as Calne started to reverse the pressure and another through ball in the 52nd minute was collected by Wonder Man Windsor who rounded the hosts keeper to score his and Calne’s 4th.
Corsham continued to push, as did Calne but it wasn’t until the 75th minute that the next goal came but this time, it was Corsham pulling another back with Dan King header.
Corsham tails were now up and they enjoyed a few minutes possession but a Jon Gale tackle cleared the danger in the 79th minute. The ball was chested down by Stuart Windsor to Matty Jenkins. Windsor ran around his marker receiving the ball from Jenkins and the Wonder Man ran on to score his and Calne’s 5th goal.
An excellent performance from a Lilywhite outfit that hopefully will continue to perform again on Saturday as Wincanton come to Bremhill View.
Man of the match: Stuart Windsor (also awarded by Corsham Town)
