Game played on a sticky pitch is how i would best describe this...
Started ok with Callum Elms pouncing on a poor clearance from the home keeper and volleying goalwards only to see the desperate gloveman get back in the nick of time to scramble the ball to safety, kept trying to play are neat and tidy football but it was becoming increasingly obvious that the way forwards on this pitch was to just stick it in the corners and play the percentages something our 3rd in the table hosts we're very good at and it paid of on one such occasion after a long ball found its way through to the willing home number 9 who finished at the second time of asking after Chris Snoddy had parried his initial effort.
Cheddar then got a 2nd before half time after a corner was only partially cleared and the follow up was bundled over the line from close range.
Came out 2nd half looking a much more positive outfit and soon had Cheddar on the back foot with Elms and Zach Costello grabbing hold of the midfield and substitute Aaron Masson joining Dan Harvey up top to provide us with a bit more firepower , nearly got back in to it when Harvey saw a shot saved and RhysLock saw his follow up only narrowly flash wide of the far post with Masson only inches away from getting a foot to it.
Then Ben Pring saw his header tipped over the bar for a corner then the same player had a shot cleared of the line by a very fortunate defender, finally got the reward we deserved 8 minutes from time when centre forward Dan Harvey thumped home a superb 18 yard volley to set up a nervy finish for the home side but as usually happens in these situations we were caught on the break and Cheddar wrapped up the 3 points they might just about deserved.
Decent young referee and thanks to Cheddar for there hospitality and good luck to them in there promotion bid, as for us it's Ashton and Backwell at the Southbank next Saturday and it's never easy playing 2 teams .
