Away | 30 August 2016 | Attendance: 151
A classic local derby played out in front of 151 spectators and a man in a deck chair settled in the home sides favour by a goal 5 minutes from the end.
Game started off at a frantic pace with both sides showing there attacking intentions with scares at both ends and both goalkeepers being kept busy, Vics took the lead with a well worked corner routine that ended with a 20 yard drive going through a crowd of players and deceiving Chris Snoddy in the Corsham goal, we kept at it until half time and both Jaiden Savery and Lewis Russell were denied by the excellent Vics keeper.
Came out 2nd half and took the fight to the Vics but again found the keeper hard to beat though after a couple of changes we finally got the goal we deserved when a well worked free kick involving Mel King and Russell found Craig Gingell and his sublime chip was headed home at the far post by Ben Pring for his 5th goal of the season, pushed forward looking for a winner and Gingell and Russell were both denied by fine saves , this is not to say it was one way traffic and the Vics had their moments but were thwarted on 2 or 3 occasions by the alert Snoddy. Then with 5 minutes left came the moment that decided the outcome when a long free kick found its way across the 6 yard box for a simple finish to give the Vics all 3 points and send them to the top of the table.
Well done to a very determined and well organised Malmesbury side and a big thank you for the superb after match hospitality and great to see so many old friends.
