Price bullet header breaks glass

The new season kicked off amidst very wet conditions in Bristol as Roman Glass FC hosted Corsham Town. From the beginning, both teams displayed strong performances in midfield, with neither side willing to give an inch. However, it was Corsham Town FC who made an early breakthrough in the 23rd minute. Dan Price, making his debut, rose high to meet Ethan Hill’s perfectly placed corner and scored a magnificent header, giving his team a 1-0 lead.

Corsham Town FC continued to press for a second goal, with Dan Demkiv providing some exceptional crosses. In the 25th minute, Alfie Presley nearly doubled the lead, but the opposition goalkeeper denied him with a deflection. Frustrations continued to mount as the referee booked Rusby for time wasting just half an hour into the game!

Despite a quieter spell, Corsham Town maintained sustained pressure, creating plenty of openings. Just before halftime, Alife Presley struck a powerful shot that rattled against the crossbar, followed by another close effort from Simpson Kane. Despite their dominance, Corsham Town FC could only manage a one-goal advantage at the break.

The second half saw chances at both ends, with Glass earning a well-placed free-kick that was saved well by Corsham’s goalkeeper, Alfie. At the other end, Dan Demkiv’s bending effort narrowly missed the target. As the game progressed, Corsham Town faced an increasingly determined home side, with Glass pushing more bodies forward.

In the 86th minute, poor finishing from Corsham Town FC nearly cost them as Sady scuffed a great cutback from Plumbs, and with just seconds remaining, Glass defender made a superb block to deny Jasper from Kane Simpson’s squared pass.

In the end, it was Corsham Town who emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over Roman Glass. It was not a pretty victory, but Corsham managed to get the job done against strong opponents.

The Man of the Match was awarded to Kane Simpson for a tireless display, covering every inch of the 4G surface and leading the line superbly throughout the match. This hard-fought victory earned Corsham a fully deserved three points to kick off their season.
