Corsham Town 2 - 2 Chippenham Park

Away | 11 September 2018 | Attendance: 85

Honours even at the end but both sides are probably wondering how , we started on the front foot with Nick Chandler thumping header coming back of the post within the first minute and the pressure didn’t let up with Josh Bright Lewis McCarron and the outstanding Daniel King all causing an overworked Park defence problem after problem , Mark Dolman was next to test the young Park keeper who responded with an excellent save when it looked all over the opening goal though in fairness it took a last gasp intervention from Dom Kilbane to prevent Park taking the lead just on halftime.

2nd 45 saw us continue to lay siege on the Park goal though it has to be said we came up against a very well drilled and organised group of players who themselves were starting to get some sort of foothold on the game and after a very rare Alex Hillier mistake a low cross was gleefully smashed home to give Park the most unlikely of leads , worse was soon to follow when from a slightly dubious offside position the Park Centre forward was allowed to run through unchallenged before coolly putting his side 2 ahead on 76 minutes , quickly made a couple of changes with Adam Shipman and Ben Wickens joining the fray and we once again laid siege on the Park goal with King hitting the post and the follow up effort somehow being kept out by the young keeper and an acrobatic Bright volley suffering the same fate though from the follow up corner he was powerless to stop Dolmans close range header and we were back in it with a couple of minutes left though at the other end goalkeeper Sam Thomson had to get down well to prevent a third Park goal and with the clock moving into added on time we got the reward we more than deserved when substitute Wickens smashed home a loose ball to send the away following into raptures , honours even at the end between two sides both trying to play football the right way with the young Park outfit containing some very talented lads indeed.
