Match Report

Tremendous win against the early league pace setters won by a superb Jaiden Savery goal on 28 minutes of a keenly fought first half between two sides who wanted to play and an excellent referee who was happy to let them get on with things. Wellington had the better of the early exchanges but calm defending by a back four of the outstanding Tom Harvey, Craig Gingell, Nick Chandler and Robbie Tripp well marshalled by debutant keeper Chris Snoddy kept them at bay and we gradually got a foothold in the game with Callum Elms and Lewis Russell feeding off the superb front play off number 9 Dan Harvey on his return to the round ball game and we were rewarded when a superb run from Savery ended with him thumping a superb 25 yard drive into the roof of the Wellington net, saw game out to half time.

Started 2nd 45 with a purpose and could have increased the lead through Tripp who shot over from 6 yards and Harvey who saw a sharp volley fly just wide, that was the signal for Welly to wake up and they threw all they had at us but thanks to the excellent Snoddy we saw it out without a real scare.

Great team performance and a well deserved 3 points and we go again at the Vics on Tuesday in another tough local derby.
