Huge respect to the Westfields ground staff for preparing a great surface despite the pitch being underwater 24 hours earlier for Corsham’s second trip to Hereford this season.
A dominant performance from the Quarrymen who were in control of this match for 90 minutes. An early chance saw Neikel Plummer blaze his shot over the bar following good work by Dan Demkiv, followed by a great effort from Humphries.
It was one-way traffic for the most part of the first 30 minutes but casual finishing and some great stops from the Westfields keeper kept the score at 0-0.
Finally, on 41 minutes the deadlock was broken following some great work by Humphries and brave finishing by Demkiv sliding in at the far post.
Minutes later the keeper unceremoniously brought down Demkiv on the edge of the box and escaped a red card as a defender was deemed to be covering. Leon Greenland was sin-binned for his protests. Justice was then served as Matt Jones curled home the resulting free kick to double the visitor’s lead.
Minutes later Jones gets his second of the game firing home a cut-back cross from Demkiv.
The second half started with the home side having a one-man advantage, but Corsham managed the game well.
There was little of note in the second half, Corsham had chances but appeared to take their foot off the peddle and choose to manage a comfortable 0-3 victory on the road.
