Corsham Town dismantled Worcester Raiders with a resounding 4-1 victory at the Taxtful Southbank. The dominant performance saw Corsham pull level with Raiders neighbours, Worcester City to the top of the table, sending a clear message of their title ambitions.
From the opening whistle, Corsham dictated the tempo, relentlessly bombarding the Raiders’ defence. Alex Hallett, a constant thorn in the visitors’ side, headed over from close range before Kye Simpson’s bouncing shot narrowly missed the target.
The early pressure paid off in the 21st minute when a long clearance from Aflie Kesley found Simpson whose deflected effort fell perfectly for Jack Taylor, who gleefully tucked the ball home to break the deadlock.
The Quarrymen’s relentless attack continued, and seven minutes later, Hallett was involved again, receiving a flick-on from a long throw, he pirouetted and unleashed a low shot past the Raiders’ keeper, doubling the lead and sending the home fans into raptures.
A comfortable first half allowing the fans to enjoy their Toby Haynes Hotdogs at half time.
The second half saw no let-up from the rampant hosts. Daniel Price, operating with the precision of a surgeon, headed home Ethan Hill’s pinpoint corner for the third goal, leaving the Raiders reeling. Price wasn’t done yet, adding a second shortly after the hour mark. He pounced on a rebound this time after Mark Cooper’s powerful shot rattled the post.
While the Raiders managed a consolation goal in the dying embers of the match, it was a mere footnote in Corsham’s dominant display. The hosts controlled the tempo, dictated the game’s flow, and ruthlessly punished every Raiders mistake.
Corsham’s confident performance leaves no doubt about their ambitions. With their attacking firepower and defensive solidity, they look poised to challenge for the Hellenic League Premier crown.
