NOT AS EASY AS SOME EXPECTED

Corsham Town 2 Brimscombe & Thrupp 0

Corsham Town continued their impressive start to the season with a convincing 2-0 victory over Brimscombe & Thrupp under the lights at the Southbank. The win extended their unbeaten run in the league to six matches, but Brimscombe & Thrupp tried to make it a tougher game than some expected.

The first half was a relatively even affair, with both teams creating chances but failing to capitalize. Corsham dominated possession, but Brimscombe’s resolute defence made it difficult to break through. However, the deadlock was finally broken in the 36th minute when Lewis unleashed a powerful shot past the Brimscombe goalkeeper, giving Corsham a deserved lead.

Brimscombe & Thrupp’s only real chance came for a few decent long throws (where have we seen that before) but they were managed comfortably.

The second half saw a continuation of Corsham’s dominance. The home side created numerous chances, but Brimscombe’s goalkeeper made several impressive saves to keep the scoreline at 1-0. However, in the 70th minute, South-Thomas sealed the victory with a well-taken goal, finishing off a flowing move involving several Corsham players.

Brimscombe fought valiantly to reduce the deficit, but Corsham’s defence remained resolute. The home side’s defensive organisation and work rate were on display throughout the match, limiting Brimscombe’s opportunities.

The win was a testament to Corsham’s quality and depth. Their midfield controlled the game, while their attack was incisive and dangerous. The defence, marshalled by Jake Wilson, was solid and reliable.

Corsham’s victory was also a result of their superior tactical approach. Ashley and Marvin implemented a game plan that perfectly suited their strengths and exploited Brimscombe’s weaknesses. The team’s ability to adapt to different situations and make necessary adjustments was evident throughout the match.
