Last season’s recipient of the club’s Young Player of the Year award, Joel Smedley, has been dealt a bitter blow as the new season gets underway. Injured in pre-season Joel’s scan results have come back displaying that he has ruptured his ACL and will now be out for the rest of the season.
Joel will undergo surgery in the coming weeks to fix the injury and then have an intense physio plan to regain strength and rebuild. Joel’s surgeon has confirmed that he will be out for the rest of the season.
Playing a key role in our success last year, Joel he picked up the Young Player Of The Year award at the end of the season and his service will be greatly missed for this season’s campaign.
It goes without saying that everybody at the club wishes him well in his recovery and looks forward to seeing him back in red next year.
